LIFE-U-SPRINGBOARD (2025-2027)

Topic: Local economic development, institutional development

Implementation period: April 2025 — March 2027

Client: European Union under the LIFE Programme

More details: This project aims to strengthen water supply and wastewater treatment systems in Ukraine, aligning with EU standards. It is designed to address key challenges in the sector by identifying, piloting, and scaling up technical, financial, and managerial solutions. A key focus of the project is building the capacity of key stakeholders — over 200 specialists will participate in a series of training programs, hackathons, and study visits.

Expected outcomes include:

  • Over 100 technical, managerial and financial solutions for wastewater treatment systems of relevance to Ukraine;

  • Capability Assessments of wastewater treatment enterprises in Ukraine;

  • Demonstration projects — solar panels installation, local water management plans, feasibility assessments and project financing applications for wastewater treatment facilities of Zolochiv and Horodok communities;

  • Study visits to wastewater treatment facilities in Poland and Finland;

  • Training programs, seminars, and an online course on water supply and wastewater management;

  • Urban water management portal;

  • 48 online events for networking and partnership-building, as well as the creation of a Water Supply and Wastewater Alliance.

Role of the PPV Agency: Coordination of the consortium of 11 project partners from Ukraine, Finland, and Poland. Together, we will prepare analytical materials on the challenges and solutions in the field of water management, and 10 large-scale projects as part the Project Preparation Facility. In addition, PPV experts will be actively involved in the development of the urban water management portal, the organization of training sessions and seminars, and the implementation of demonstration projects.
